Pig Personality

The folk reading gives the pig generosity, straightforwardness and a taste for comfort. A folk characterisation following the animal's reputation, treated as general temperament rather than individual.

It is one factor among several in the traditional system. The folk reading gives the pig generosity, straightforwardness and a taste for comfort. The year animal is the coarsest of the four pillars — the month, day and hour carry equal weight, and the classical sources never read the year alone. The tradition reads the pig's appetite as generosity rather than as excess, which is a deliberate reading.

The attributed traits follow the animal's traditional role as the fattened household animal and its association with plenty. It is grouped under Water (水) in the five-element system.
