FAQ

The questions we are asked most — including the two that come up because most sites answer them wrong.

Is this fortune-telling?

No. The database documents what symbols, terms and systems have meant in a tradition. The readings are interpretations in that traditional sense. Nothing here predicts events or promises an outcome.

Do I need my exact birth time?

For the four pillars, yes — the hour pillar comes from it. If you do not know it, 12:00 still gives a correct year, month and day pillar; only the hour pillar will be wrong. The calculator says so on the page rather than quietly producing a full chart.

Why does the site say my animal is different from other sites?

Because the year pillar changes at Lichun (立春, around 4 February), not at the lunar new year. For roughly six weeks each year the two disagree. If you were born in January or early February, this is the usual reason for a mismatch.

Is my birth data stored?

No. The calculators run in your browser and nothing you enter is uploaded. Readings are generated from the birth details you confirm at checkout, and are not retained as a profile.

What do I get after I buy?

A printable PDF built from the birth details confirmed at checkout. You will also receive a license key from Payhip — keep it, because it is what lets you retrieve your report on another device.

I lost my PDF. Can I get it again?

Yes. Use the license key from your Payhip receipt to restore access to your purchase. The key is the only thing that identifies a purchase, so it is worth keeping.

Can I buy a reading for someone else?

Yes, and the checkout asks you to confirm whose birth details the reading should be built from. That step exists because a reading bought for one person and built from another's data is simply the wrong report.

How much of the site is free?

The whole database and all five calculators. The readings are the paid part — they are the piece that requires your own birth data.

Where do the traditional readings come from?

From the documented vocabulary of each system. Where an entry describes a practice that is modern rather than classical, it says so — we try not to present recent additions as ancient.
