About Zodiacrune

Zodiacrune is an Eastern wisdom database: 671 entries across 8 modules, written as a reference rather than as a blog.

What this is

A structured database of the systems that make up Chinese traditional cosmology — BaZi, Zi Wei Dou Shu, the twelve animals, the five elements, Feng Shui, dream symbolism and the calendar. Each entry gives the term, its position in the system, how it has been read in the traditional sources, and the entries it is connected to.

The database is designed to be read in any order. Every entry stands on its own and links outward to the rest.

What this is not

It is not a fortune-telling site, and it makes no predictions. The entries document what a symbol or a term has meant in a tradition — they do not say what will happen to you. Where a reading is offered, it is offered as interpretation in the traditional sense, with the boundary stated on the page.

We also mark our own seams. Where a practice is classical and where it is a modern addition, the entry says which — that distinction is usually the thing readers cannot find elsewhere.

How the entries are written

Each entry follows the same structure: overview, meaning, traditional reading, related concepts, FAQ and internal links. The structure is fixed so you always know where to look; the content is written per entry, because a database built from one template is 700 copies of the same sentence.

Every entry carries a variation — one specific observation that is not derivable from the definition. It exists precisely so the entries cannot collapse into a template.

The calculators

The calculators run the traditional algorithms in your browser. Nothing you enter leaves your device, and no birth data is stored.
