Travel Palace (迁移宫)

The palace of movement — travel, relocation, and how a person fares away from home. The Travel Palace describes what happens when a person leaves their base: movement, migration, and conduct in unfamiliar settings. It is the palace read most directly against its opposite, the Life Palace.

No — a palace is read with its occupants, its opposite palace and the four transformations together. The palace of movement — travel, relocation, and how a person fares away from home. The Travel Palace is one of the few places where the system is explicitly comparative: the sources describe the same person as two different people depending on which side of this axis is being read.

The tradition treats the Travel/Life axis as the difference between the person at home and the person abroad. Classical readings use it for journeys, for relocation, and — in the oldest sources — for the question of whether leaving is advisable at all. It is grouped under Water (水) in the five-element system.
