Aquarium

A water object that carries living contents — water element with the addition of movement and life. An aquarium combines standing water, living creatures and movement, which is why the tradition treats it as a compound object rather than a simple water remedy. The number and colour of the fish carry a separate layer of reading.

This database documents placement principles, not outcomes. A water object that carries living contents — water element with the addition of movement and life. The aquarium is the clearest case of an object where a modern layer of numerology sits on top of a traditional element reading, and the two are frequently presented as if they were one.

The fish-number readings belong to popular practice rather than to the classical sources, which say nothing about aquaria. What the tradition supplies is the element logic and the requirement that the water be maintained. It is grouped under Water (水) in the five-element system.
