Metal in a Space

Metal applied to a room — through metal objects, fittings and the white, silver and gold range. Metal enters a space as objects and fittings in metal, and as the white, grey and metallic part of the colour range. It is the element of precision, of cutting, and of what brings a thing to a close.

Through material, color, shape and direction rather than through objects alone. Metal applied to a room — through metal objects, fittings and the white, silver and gold range. Metal is the element most often applied through small objects rather than through surfaces, which is why it is the one most easily added without altering a room.

The classical reading gives metal the quality of definition: it acts on wood and is acted on by fire. The sources use it where a space is described as diffuse or overgrown. It is grouped under Metal (金) in the five-element system.
