Rain

Rain is read as something arriving from outside your control, and falling whether or not you wanted it. Rain is Water delivered. Traditional reading asks whether you sought shelter, since the symbol turns on reception rather than on the weather.

Natural features are read by state and conditions. Rain is read as something arriving from outside your control, and falling whether or not you wanted it. Traditional readings look at whether it is calm or disturbed, near or distant. Rain that falls indoors is one of the most reported variants, read as supply arriving in a place that was meant to be closed.

Sources distinguish gentle rain from a downpour by what it does to the ground — the first is read as supply, the second as disruption. It is grouped under Water (水) in the five-element system.
