Needle

A needle is read as precision applied to something small — repair or joining done at close range. Metal at its finest point. Traditional reading asks what is being sewn or mended, since the needle is an instrument of a particular task.

It points to a function rather than an event. A needle is read as precision applied to something small — repair or joining done at close range. Traditional readings ask what the object is for and whether it is working, rather than treating it as a sign. Searching for a needle in a large space is a widely reported image, read as precision demanded where scale works against it.

Sources read the needle by its thread: a threaded needle is ready work, an unthreaded one is capacity without material. It is grouped under Metal (金) in the five-element system.
