BaZi Calculator
The four pillars — year, month, day and hour — each given as a heavenly stem and an earthly branch. Enter a date and an hour; the calculation runs in your browser.
The hour you enter is local clock time; the timezone converts it. If you do not know the hour, 12:00 gives a correct year, month and day pillar — only the hour pillar will be wrong.
How it is calculated
The year pillar changes at Lichun (立春, around 4 February), not at the lunar new year. The month pillar is fixed by the solar term in which the birth falls, not by the lunar month. The day pillar comes from the day's sexagenary index. The hour pillar maps the two-hour period to a branch, with hours after 23:00 counted into the following day.
Because the year boundary is a solar term, a birth in January or early February is frequently assigned the wrong animal by calculators that use the festival date. This one uses the astronomical boundary.

The chart is the start, not the reading
A calculator gives you the structure. A reading is the work of interpreting it — what the day master can hold, what the luck cycle is doing, and where the symbols actually land.
