Shi Shen and Wealth

In the traditional scheme, what the day master generates can in turn generate the wealth element — a chain rather than a direct link. The five-element generating cycle is what connects Shi Shen to wealth: output produces the element that produces wealth.

In the traditional scheme, what the day master generates can in turn generate the wealth element — a chain rather than a direct link. The chain reasoning is the distinctive feature here and is a good example of how the system works mechanically rather than by association.

Traditional texts use the generating chain explicitly, which is why Shi Shen appears in discussions of how wealth is reached. It is grouped under Wood (木) in the five-element system.
